The role

Applications are welcomed for the role of Product Manager to join a professional, dynamic, and forward-thinking product team.

As the SSP Product Manager you will be responsible for the end-to-end operational delivery of Site Safety Plus training courses & eLearning, and associated publications. This includes budget management, performance management, product improvement and promotion throughout the product lifecycle.

The role holder will use their experience to support the development of new products and on-going improvement of existing products, to ensure they meet the requirements of CITB’s strategic objectives and the needs of the industry.

Reporting to the Product Lead this role will have four direct reports.

Key activities

You will be responsible for the below:

  • To lead the product team responsible for the delivery and continuous improvement of the products in the portfolio, plus delivery management of an outsourced customer service provision.

  • To ensure the effective operational delivery of the products; through direct reports, other CITB teams and external stakeholders/suppliers.
  • Develop and deliver robust product plans aligned to CITB’s strategic priorities. 
  • Resolve complaints or escalations ensuring a consistent fair approach.
  • To ensure products deliver the required impact for industry (benefits).

  • To manage commercial products (determining pricing strategies and margins, managing associated cost bases, and analysis of competitor landscape and market share).

  • To manage budgets and forecasts (complex budgeting and forecasting of customer volumes, circa £10m pa of non-Levy income and associated cost bases and surplus, accounting for a variety of factors including historic trends, economic analysis, and industry training trends).

  • To ensure the effective procurement of significant supplier contracts delivers the outcomes for the associated products (determining product and pricing specification requirements, quality measures and SLAs/KPIs, and robust and fair evaluation and award of bids).

  • To identify, document and monitor all associated product risks, ensuring mitigating actions are in place (including disaster recovery and business continuity plans).

  • To maintain key internal relationships and external relationships with key stakeholders (working with engagement team colleagues).

  • To act as a leader within CITB, supporting and driving key organisational change programmes and other key initiatives

About you

Key attributes for this role are:

  • Experience in a management role covering both strategic and operational responsibilities

  • Experience in successfully managing a product or portfolio of products

  • Experience of working in a commercial environment and delivering commercial success for a product

  • Experience of financial planning and managing budgets

  • Knowledge of the UK training and assessment environment

  • Experience of training and assessment products and services
