About the role:

To contribute to CITB having accurate and timely and accurate financial information, advice and guidance to enable the business to plan and manage its business from strategy through to operational delivery. To provide stakeholders across the business with accurate and qualitative reporting, analysis and information to enable them effectively manage their areas of the business.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Develop personal relationship with LT and their direct reports, to develop bond of trust, to get effective communication, to know the business and understand the people and the issues, to deal with issues before they escalate, to provide advice when its need, means a coherent and well thought out support to the LT
  • Develop sound financial forecasting for the business unit based on business plans to ensure LT understand any issues of affordability, achievability and ensure value for money for CITB
  • Work with the LT to develop plans (including £) that will deliver strategy, demonstrating good advice and ensuring value for money
  • Give opinions, views and analysis on future performance, current performance and impact on deliverability – using trends and historical information to shape our views to the LT to ensure plans remain on track
  • Highlight conflicts and issues that could impact business performance of the LT’s plan to ensure they can be alerted to these and take decisions in a timely manner and take corrective action if needed.
  • Monitor and evaluate deliverables and develop/recommend mitigating actions if performance is off track and if actions need to be taken in order to deliver effectively.
  • External environment – keep up to date on external factors in order to provide a business area with sound business advice, scenario modelling and intelligence in a fully contextualised manner
  • Write bespoke Exec papers in order to provide the Executive with the basis for decision making on key issues of the day
  • Bespoke interpretive thinking – report and analysis – proactive and innovative creation of thinking relevant to LT’s portfolio to bring to their attention anything that we consider important and may cause issues – giving options and advice

Essential:

  • 5 years post qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) experience in a financial role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of concepts and principles within own professional discipline, gained through broad and in-depth experience – a recognised expert and acknowledged authority within their particular field of expertise
  • Advanced analytical skills in order to be able to evaluate factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situations; demonstrable ability to filter, prioritise, analyse and validate potentially complex and dynamic material
  • Demonstrate the credibility to engage and influences senior stakeholders effectively
