Assessment and Test (Technical Developer)

Location: Peterborough

The role

Applications are welcomed for the role of technical developer specialising in assessment and testing and has an interest in developing and managing health, safety and environment related assessments in the construction sector.

The CITB product management team are responsible for many of the CITB key publications and training and assessment products, ensuring they are aligned to industry needs, are engaging, innovative, have maximum impact and continue to develop and improve as industry and technologies change. CITB provides a number of key assessment products to the construction industry, including the Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test which has more than 650,000 candidates per year.

As an assessment and testing specialist you will work closely with internal stakeholders, product owners and supply partners and you will be responsible for developing, designing and delivering new tests as well as continuous improvements to existing tests.

Key activities

  • Working with industry subject matter experts to develop assessment content
  • Statistical analysis – reviewing and reporting on test question and test performance identifying trends and anomalies
  • Creation of and management of complex item banks
  • Creation of questions banks, specifications and blueprints
  • Item bank analysis and new item planning and commissioning

About you

This role would suit an experienced assessment and testing professional who has gained their subject matter expertise through a variety of previous roles. The ideal candidate will be able to evidence their knowledge of assessment and testing principles and be able to evidence the creation and management of complex question banks.

Knowledge of awarding body organisations, education or training would be an advantage as would a recognised assessment and testing qualification(s).

You will have experience of being able to work to detailed project plans, with excellent time management skills, along with highly developed written skills and be a confident presenter.

You will have the ability to be able to translate technical material into product content for the creation of question banks as well as hard copy question papers for a range of delegates from operatives, supervisors and managers and be committed to maintaining your own knowledge of testing principles and practices at all times.

You will be able to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and with external stakeholders.

The post is a grade D: £34,894 to £41,113 per annum
