About the role:

The Business Architect reports into the Technology & Change Director and works closely with the Change Managers and the Data and Information Manager to ensure the business model is appropriate to Businesses needs and with the Enabling Partner or Partners to ensure that technical solutions are aligned to those needs

The Business Architect will lead the development and maintenance of a business model that appropriately supports the approved business plan The Business Architect will act Lead the Design Authority for CITB, and will be an approver in that capacity for all business changes which cross organisational boundaries or which otherwise have a significant impact on the business.

As a member of the management team, to provide the leadership contribution necessary for the effective operation of CITB, to externally and internally be an advocate of CITB’s purpose, aims and vision. To provide expertise across all areas of Business Architecture including people, process, data and technology and how these aspects integrate within an enterprise approach.

The Business Architect will create, manage and control the library of all approved business design documents – CITB’s architectural continuum The role acts as the

Business Architectural lead with the Technology & Change team.

The role involves thought leadership to influence CITB colleagues in the development of an effective business model to meet the needs of the organisation. This will involve leading the design on significant projects to develop full architectural plans to cover processes, data and the business requirements for the provision of a technology solution.

Working within a matrix management model, the role will support initiatives and lead project design work streams across the Business Change and Technology portfolio. This will include working with the Enabling Partner or Partners to facilitate the delivery of change across the business.

Essential Skills:

  • Degree in a subject relevant to the role or equivalent relevant experience
  • At least three years relevant experience in a similar role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of concepts and principles within own professional discipline, gained through broad and in-depth experience of business architecture
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and the ability to translate all aspects of business architecture into terms relevant to business audiences and/or technical suppliers
  • A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
  • The ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues
  • Extensive experience planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives
  • Experience modelling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques
  • Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus
