The organisation

CITB is the industry training board for the construction sector in England, Scotland and Wales. It is our job to help the construction industry attract talent and to support skills development, to build a better Britain. We are an executive non-departmental public body in charge of our budget and activities. Sponsored by the Department for Education, we are also accountable to government ministers, and ultimately Parliament.

The role

Applications are welcomed for the role of Head of Apprenticeships and Careers Products to join a dynamic Product Management team.

CITB Product Management are responsible for many of CITB’s key products and services; ensuring they are aligned to industry needs, have maximum impact, and continue to develop as the industry and technologies evolve. These products cover our three priority areas of Training & Development, Standards & Qualifications, and Careers.

As the Head of Apprenticeships and Careers Products you will lead the delivery of a portfolio of products in the careers area, including apprenticeships quality and contract compliance in all three nations. You will ensure these activities are aligned with organisational strategy and achieve the desired benefits for the construction industry.

Key activities

  • Leading the teams that are responsible for apprenticeship quality and contract compliance, and product development/delivery of the products in the portfolio
  • To develop and be accountable for product strategies that align with organisational strategy
  • To ensure the effective operational delivery of the products
  • To ensure appropriate product development is undertaken, and is aligned with the product strategy
  • To ensure products deliver the required impact for industry (benefits)
  • To contribute to organisational planning (operational and strategic) to ensure CITB have a coherent set of activities in the area of Apprenticeship and Careers delivering against defined industry needs

About you

The successful applicant for this role will be an experienced senior manager, who has a successful track record in roles with both strategic and operational responsibilities. It is likely you will have experience of delivering a range of high-profile products and/or services, as well as contract management.  

You will have a passion for ensuring that the construction industry is attractive and inspiring to the next generations of GB talent, with some previous experience in apprenticeship delivery, and other careers related activity.

Above all you will be an inspiring leader, able to build and lead high performing teams, that will deliver impactful products and services.
