The organisation

CITB is the industry training board for the construction sector in England, Scotland and Wales. It’s our job to help the construction industry attract talent and to support skills development, to build a better Britain. We are an executive non-departmental public body in charge of our budget and activities. Sponsored by the Department for Education, we are also accountable to Government ministers, and ultimately Parliament.

About the role

CITB Product Management is responsible for many of the CITB key products, ensuring they are aligned to industry needs, have maximum impact, and continue to develop as the industry and technologies evolve. These products include the Health, Safety & Environment tests and accompanying publications. The CITB Health, Safety & Environment tests are aimed at building health, safety and environmental understanding in the construction industry. The tests play a vital role in the construction industry’s drive for safer working practices and are a key element of many competence cards and industry best practice standards.  

Internal applications are welcomed for a secondment opportunity as a Product Manager for our Health, Safety & Environment test products.

The Product Manager is the person accountable for the end to end product delivery, ensuring that the product or service they are responsible for delivers the specified outcomes in line with CITB strategic priorities, and achieves the desired benefits for the construction industry.

As Product Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • The end to end product lifecycle
  • Effective operational delivery and financial performance of your products
  • Budget management
  • Supplier and stakeholder management
  • Managing the delivery of new products and the closure of products at the end of a cycle
  • Providing leadership and direction to your team

Key activities:

  • Develop and implement product plans to achieve agreed outcomes aligned to the CITB strategy
  • Accountable for operational delivery and financial performance
  • Develop products to ensure continuous improvement, working with a Product Development team to achieve required outcomes
  • Collate and manage intelligence and data to inform operational plans
  • Product promotion internally and externally
  • Stakeholder and supplier management, representing the product internally and externally
  • Providing leadership and direction to your team, embedding a culture of continuous improvement

The successful applicant for this role will have experience of product management, including the development and implementation of product plans. They will have operational delivery experience with a focus on excellent customer service.
